Read stuff later

How are you getting your daily news-fix? Do you go visit the sites directly, use a feed reader or do you use some other clever application?

I’ve used Instapaper, Readability and Pocket (Read It Later).

Not being able to find a RSS reader that appealed to me, I decided to give Readability a go, but the lack of an iOS app when it was released was a downer. So I decided to give Instapaper a go.

Instapaper has a horrible web interface, but the app is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately it renders some non-English news articles horribly. The Instapaper article ends up as a collection of links – basically everything on that page except the news articles itself.

I’ve created a few folders to keep it tidy, so switching to Pocket was not an easy decision.

After finding I could export everything from Instapaper I’ve decided to give Pocket another go – as it seems to render any page perfectly. I read a lot of non-English news, so having to visit the article in the built-in browser doesn’t make sense.

Pocket is a bit different, I’m missing the folders, but I think it will grow on me the more I learn to use it.
