Shutting down due to overheating

It is not often I hope that the meteorologists are wrong. But today was that day. It was predicted that the mercury would hit a sweltering 39 degrees Celsius.

And it did.

On top of that I had planned to finish a column which is now about 1200 words long. Compiled from two different drafts.

After waking up from a double-shot iced coffee I decided to throw in the towel. I was being cooked alive. But I wasn’t alone. Having a quick look on Twitter I wasn’t alone loathing this heat.

While back home in Norway, the city I’m from, the mercury hit around -14 degrees Celsius.

Would have loved that today.

The thing is, that you can dress accordingly when it comes to cold temperatures, but when it comes to warm temperatures, there is a limit to how much you can undress.

Can’t wait to be back in Norway for a few weeks. Walking around in the snow. Enjoying the silence and solitude while crossing a frozen river.

Bliss…

Dokter’s Weekly Report #2

This week’s report seems to carry the theme of why I sometimes loathe people. So I’m sorry for those of you who hoped for something cheery.

Governments not trusting its citizens, conspiracy nuts clinging to confirmation bias and dismissing facts, sexism directed at men is shrugged at by some and being fat and unhealthy is celebrated.

Lovely how western society seems to embrace decadence and hedonism at the cost of others. Self-control and being accountable for your own actions is not something to aspire to it seems. Do what ever you want and blame everyone else for your misery or if something goes wrong – never your fault.

While other parts of the world people flee for their lives from wars and hope that one mouthful of rice will keep them alive till next day.

Maybe we need another World War or just a Cold War, which costs fewer lives, to put our view on life in perspective, make us not only appreciate life again but treat each other with respect and dignity.

Something the big religions claim to teach, but instead they seem too busy to judge and wage wars with those not following them.

I wonder if they are also proud of promoting an unhealthy lifestyle which has a great impact on healthcare. Not to mention, which I know is a cliche, but in other parts of the world there are people starving to death while these two gluttons ooze outwards.
